Infographics have been around since the early 2000s, and they’ve only gained in popularity since then. Today, there are thousands of infographics floating around on the Internet, covering every imaginable topic you can think of (and quite a few you might not have thought of!). But while they may seem like they’re popping up everywhere, it’s still important to understand how infographics can be used to generate leads and turn prospects into paying customers. Check out these five ways to create infographics that will help you grow your business!
1) Choose an infographic topic
Before you get started, it’s important to take some time and think about what information will be most relevant for your readers. If you haven’t already done so, create a content strategy with an editor or your boss that covers how many pieces of each type of content you need to produce every month/quarter/year. This will help you avoid wasting time on tasks that don’t help your business generate leads and revenue. When considering topics for your infographic, think about how each topic fits into your overall content strategy; topics that align well with your goals can be seen as producing long-term growth in relation to each other.

While you may not be in charge of writing your company’s story, as it were, you certainly have a part in making sure your business is conveyed as effectively and accurately as possible. But getting across all that information—as well as who you are and what makes your company unique—can be difficult. An infographic can come in handy, telling your brand story visually and in a way that generates leads by attracting people interested in similar offerings. When creating an infographic for your business, think about what makes it stand out from competitors, who does it serve best (your existing customers or prospects) and how do you want readers to feel about it?
5) Experiment with different types of content
It’s important to experiment with different types of content and see what works best for your audience. For example, if you’re a B2B company, try creating an infographic that describes where you see your industry going in five years. If it doesn’t fit well with your overall brand strategy (or feels out of place), it may not be worth sharing—no matter how much traffic it generates. Ask yourself: Are your customers likely to share? Would it be more valuable from a lead generation standpoint than another type of content you could create? Be careful about getting too distracted by infographics; instead, build a strategy around them based on these questions.

And according to Adweek, graphics on Pinterest receive 150 percent more repins than non-graphic content. If you’re looking for a new and effective way to attract leads—which you can do by creating your own informational graphics—it’s worth considering investing in some basic design software or even hiring a freelancer.
8) Create A Brand Inforgraphy for Your Brand
Even if you’re not a designer, you can still create infographics for your company by working with an infographic design company. Companies like Visual.ly (visual.ly) and Piktochart (piktochart) offer templates that make it easy for non-designers to put together a professional, on-brand infographic in no time at all. Another option is to design your own infographic using a tool like Canva (canva). You might want to start with some basic research before you dive into making your first graphic – what do other companies in your industry use? Look at competitors’ infographics and ask yourself: What can we learn from their designs? Where can we improve? What are they doing well?
9) Grow Your Infography Design through Pinterest
Pinterest has gained a ton of popularity in recent years and it’s easy to see why. Most people have a visual memory, which makes Pinterest an ideal tool for introducing new users to your infography design business or new product. If you haven’t explored Pinterest yet, give it a shot. From a marketing perspective, it might be worth exploring how well it converts visitors into customers. What is your return on investment? Keep in mind that you can also buy followers on Pinterest if you want instant credibility and traction. But keep in mind that they won’t necessarily buy from you!
10) Create Intro Video about your Infogrtaphy design
People may not be looking for you, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t interested in your industry. If you can grab their attention with an eye-catching infographic, they might follow up by heading to your website and giving you a call. Getting their attention is only half of it: You need content that will both meet their needs and resonate with them emotionally. That’s where an introduction video comes in. An intro video lays out exactly what your organization or business offers—before asking for contact information and showing a call-to-action button on screen at any point during or after viewing.
